Our
story

Repurposed from one of Worcester’s oldest surviving factory buildings, The Reeds is a boutique apartment residence where rich industrial heritage meets refined contemporary living. Built in 1865, it was originally home to the Taylor and Farley Organ Company, a manufacturer of finely crafted reed organs. Simeon Taylor was an inventor who received six organ-related patents, and John Farley was a reed maker.
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Italianate-style structure has been artfully transformed for a new generation of urban dwellers. Original wood columns, heavy timber joists, and exposed brick walls lend warmth and authenticity to residences and shared spaces, while thoughtful modern finishes and curated comforts exude quiet luxury. Restored beadboard and even the building’s original boiler doors - now decoratively displayed - offer tactile reminders of its storied past.
